  • Got Mics?
    288

Need to move a Crestron Signal? The 288 Series may be the best BCI product choice. Since its development for the Concierge Fiberstation, interest in the 288 Series has been increasing. The product is versatile in that analog audio (2 in : mic, line or phantom power) 2 out as well as RS-232, RS-422, or RS-485 (switchable) can be bi-directionally transported over 2 fibers. The units reside in a 1/2 size, 1 RU box. The 288 Series was developed with Crestron RS-485 control signals in mind. In fact, the front panel utilizes a "cresnet" connector so that a Crestron display or controller can be directly plugged into the BCI units. This product can also be combined with other BCI units to create a "custom" unit at low cost. Other features include RCA connections for line level audio and industry standard XLR connections for mic applications. House of worship seem to like the mixture of mic audio and Crestron transport for pulpit locations.

    Introducing the BCIView
    bciview

BCI's new Network Monitoring System (NMS), BCIView enables centralized trouble shooting of standard BCI products, allowing for diagnosis of local and remote units from a single remote workstation over the Internet, increasing organizational efficiency. Users can securely log into the BCIView from any web browser, at any place, and at any time to monitor, configure, and/or manage differing fiber optic card based products anywhere in the world.

Users want to have a simple-to-use, effective, and scalable network monitoring system for their audio and video centric networks. The BCIView perfectly fits with this demand.

Developed by BCI to provide the highest possible quality Network Monitoring System, BCIView offers 24 hour monitoring of products including: short-haul analog video and audio, digital SDI/HDTV video, professional AES/EBU audio, Ethernet, and RS232/422, just to name a few. In addition, BCIView generates SNMP alarms for important events such as system power-on, system loss of power, link restoration, and link failure. It also implements battery backup to continue to report status for 30 minutes after power failure. This system is designed to comply with the universal SNMP and HTTP standards, and provide easy integration with other management software.

    BCI Enters the Medical Industry
    4600

The medical industry is clamoring for BCI fiber optic products! Recently, BCI has entered into an agreement with a well known medical display manufacturer to supply BCI products for high resolution video, audio and data transport on fiber within operating rooms, distribution throughout the hospital and between buildings. The most commonly requested BCI products in the medical industry include the 4600E, RGBHV Series (for its ability to pass high quality HD video), 1000E or 1100E (for all digital SDI or HD transport from HD or SDI operating room cameras), 4800 Series (for DVI to high resolution Plasmas/LCD displays), 235 Series (for S- video, common for Endoscopic cameras), and the 288 (for paging and Crestron control).

After recently attending a major medical trade show, it is apparent that the medical industry is technologically advanced in medicine but NOT in video and audio. The quality of video required has been, up until recently, S-video. Now, most major medical equipment manufacturers are interested in updating their equipment to HD resolutions. Doctors are asking these equipment manufacturers why they can buy an HD display for their living rooms and not have that video quality available in the operating room! There is a tremendous opportunity to promote BCI fiber optic products in this industry.

    BCI's competitive advantages include:

    • Most products available in a 1 fiber version!
    • BCI's modular approach allows for easy creation of low cost "custom" products.
    • Standard products can be shipped quickly.
    • Fiber can be pulled almost anywhere in a hospital, while copper useage must be strictly regulated to avoid disruption of medical equipment signals.
