Its been a little while since our last newsletter, but
that doesn't mean we've been sitting back. In this
issue, we talk about our new, updated price list
that's now available, we also tell you about our
6550 and 4800 products, and then spotlight our
funded R&D project. We hope you enjoy this issue
and we are always happy to hear from you, so please
feel free to send us an email or give us a call.
| Updated Price List Now Available |
 |
|
We are at it again! As you read in our last issue we
have released new products, so of course there is an
update price list available. Please contact us for
your updated version if one hasn't already been sent
to you from our Sales Department. For pricing on all of our
products or any special application that you have
please call 800-214-0222, or 310-530-1416 (if
outside the US). Don Hosmer, Jason Chian, and Jim
Banda will be more than happy to help you with the
right product for your needs.

| Medical Industry Needs HD Transport |
 |
|
Current medical trends require multiple, medical
grade, HD, flat panel, LCD monitors for operating
rooms. These HD capable displays require better
delivery of digital signals then copper cabling. DVI-D
is the digital form of analog RGBHV signals. Both
formats allow for HD transmission, but DVI-D is
superior to RGBHV because the signal is not
transformed to analog.
BCI s 4800 Series DVI transports
over fiber optic cabling. Typical applications include a
PC or endoscopic camera as a video source that
drives a flat panel display over fiber, digital signage
outside of the OR, and Surgical Teaching seminars.
BCI s 4800 is a 4-fiber module that connects
through LC style connectors. Its available in
standalone modules (4.5 long X 2 wide), as a fixed
length fiber optic cable assembly (customer indicates
cable length when ordering), or as a 200E series card cage
single slot card. Maximum resolution is 1600 X 1200,
but a dual link version will be available shortly.

| BCI Won a TCP/IP Performance Enhancement R&D Contract |
 |
Always looking ahead, BCI is developing new
technologies for our future growth. We are pleased
to announce that BCI has received a US Navy Space
and Naval Warfare Command (SPAWAR) R&D contract
to develop an advanced Internet Protocol (IP)
performance enhancement technology. BCI is
developing an innovative Generic Network
Measurement Software Architecture (MSA) that
eliminates severe IP network performance limitations
and under-utilization associated with Long, Thin,
Unreliable and Intermittent (LTUI) networks. MSA
accurately measures networks by intelligently
monitoring IP packets traveling through LTUI links and
sets TCP/IP internal parameters by applying them.
Enhancement mechanisms include data, multimedia,
voice, and Quality of Service (QoS) applications. Its
design principles and requirements focus on high
TCP/IP and QoS performance, seamless operation, no
need to change each network host, applicability to
various existing network platforms (routers, switches,
gateways, workstations), and effective network
management. In the next few years, BCI will
transition this innovative technology into our next
generation products.

Model 6550 Fiber Optic Repeater |
|
|
|
This cost effective, multipurpose optical repeater is
designed to extend fiber optic link distance and
maximize optical signal fidelity. Because of it s unique
signal re-clocking and regeneration features, it can
practically repeat as many times as is needed,
working together with BCI s transmitters and
receivers.
The model 6550 has three choices of
data rate ranges: 180 Mbps, 600 Mbps and 1.25
Gbps. It has options for either unidirectional or bi-
directional repeater configurations. In addition, LED
indicators can easily monitor power and channel
activity. Finally, the 6550 comes with standalone,
compact, ruggedized packaging. Customized panel
connectors are also available upon request.
