Broadata Communications has recently expanded its’ product line to
include peripheral accessories to support both fiber optic transmission equipment and AVD over IP applications.
Fiber optic applications sometimes require such items as splitters,
attenuators, and custom patch cords or cabling. BCI has many of these items available either in stock or a very quick delivery (1-2 days). Fiber optic splitters are becoming common in applications that want to distribute the same signal to multiple end points. The products are available in various split ratios such as 50:50 or 70:30 and for either multimode or singlemode fiber. Split ratio decisions are made calculating distance of each end point for the transmission source. Sales of custom length patch cords with any connector type termination specified are also increasing. BCI maintains that the customer doesn’t need to be a fiber expert. Don’t worry about termination of cabling. Give BCI a call and we can design a custom length patch cord or cable with such features as staggered and taped connections, fanout assemblies or cabling with pulling eyes to facilitate installation.
For twisted pair IP applications, format converters and distribution
amps are available. Sometimes an application requires to source to be “converted” into another video or audio type so that the transmission equipment can do its job. In addition to format conversion, BCI has copper based splitters, scalers, and scan converters. These products can also be used in conjunction with Fiber optic transmitters or transceivers. Here is a list of some of the current BCI offerings:
- YPbPr to RGB
- HDMI-DVI
- DVI+Audio to HDMI
- RGB/YPbPr to CV/SV/YCbCr
- CV/SV to HDMI Scaler
- CV/SV to DVI Scaler
- 1 x 4 DVI Splitter
- 1 x 8 DVI Splitter

Model 230i/240i Audio/Video/Data Over IP Network Transmission
System |
 |
The model 230i system transmits two audio and one NTSC/PAL/SECAM baseband unidirectional video channel over one 10/100 Ethernet port. The model 240i transmits and receives two bi-directional audio, one NTSC/PAL/SECAM video and one RS-232 data.
This 230i/240i system uses multiple formats: MPEG-2 TS; MPEG-2 ES and
MPEG-4, with features of VOD (video on demand); unicasting (point-to-point), multicasting (point-to-multi points, as well as broadcasting.
The 230i/240i system is perfect to transmit audio/video anywhere within
your IP/Ethernet network for high-quality real-time multimedia distribution applications. It is perfect for remote multimedia studio, distance learning, audio/video/data conferencing, media retrieval and distribution and digital signage.

MCP1000 AVD Media Converter |
|
|
BCI’s MCP1000
AVD media converter product is a card frame or standalone box based
system designed to provide media conversion capabilities for video and audio between copper and fiber optic cabling which is similar to very common Ethernet Media Converters in existence today. The MCP1000 platform is best paired (but not limited to) applications involving copper based Matrix switches. When used in conjunction with a matrix switch, the MCP1000 system provides an economical and “as needed” solution for extending the distance or reach of matrix switch signals without a reduction in bandwidth or at the high cost of fiber optic based switching. At the same time, the cabling infrastructure is simplified and is immune to electrical interference and ground loops. No user adjustments are necessary which provides a “plug ‘n play” installation. A small example of supported video, audio and data functions include:
- Composite NTSC or PAL video
- S-Video
- RGBHV
- HDSDI
- SDI
- DVI
- Analog Stereo Audio
- AES Digital Audio
- RS-232, RS-422, RS-485 Data
