  • NSCA Wrap Up
BCI recently exhibited at the NSCA (National Systems Contractors Association) tradeshow. Attendance in Las Vegas was up over last year and the show included specific pavilions highlighting both digital signage and Video over IP manufacturers.
BCI debuted many exciting new products that were well received by attendees, including multi-channel SDI (1600 Series) and SDI with digital audio (1700 Series). However, the biggest “buzz” generated by the show was twofold. BCI’s 4700 Series, which is a cost effective, high resolution, RGBHV + Stereo Audio over only 1 fiber and BCI’s new 230i Series (MPEG 2 compressed, NTSC Video + Stereo Audio over IP) generated great interest among System Integrators and Consultants.
Next year’s show will be held in Orlando Florida. BCI hopes to see you all there!
P.S. – The next chance to see BCI’s new products will be at NAB (National Association of Broadcasters) in Las Vegas, April 24-27, Booth SU805.

Why TDM for SDI Video and AES Audio?
    1700
Broadata has released its newest product model, the 1700 Series. This product combines 1-channel 270Mb/s SDI video and 2-channel AES audio (for a total of 4 audio channels, since each AES carries two audio channel) using time division multiplexing (TDM). You can send both SDI video and AES audio over the same multimode or singlemode fiber for remote audio/video distribution applications.
You may wonder why we use TDM, since AES audio can be embedded into SDI video channel using SDI/AES embedders and de-embedders that are generally available in the markets. Since we were approached by a fairly large international TV station operator, BCI specifically designed the TDM version of the fiber optic SDI/AES combiner and splitter (1700 Series) for the following good reasons:
    • Independent SDI and AES flows: thus, the interruption of SDI (or AES) will not affect the operation of the AES (or SDI) channel.
    • Audio format flexibility: one may choose to carry analog audio, instead of digital AES audio, i.e., a SDI- Analog Audio combiner and splitter
    • A single footprint for low cost: economic one- board module implementation, instead of two-board module (SDI/AES embedder board + SDI over fiber board).
Please call/email us to request a copy of the 1700 data sheet.
