VidTrans 2006 Tradeshow a Big Success!
The end of January was busy for Broadata! BCI
recently exhibited at the S.M.P.T.E. (Society of
Motion Picture Technical Engineers) VidTrans 2006
tradeshow in Hollywood, California. The 3 day
exhibition and conference showcased the latest
technology related to Broadcast Television
deployment. This year s conference focused
on video over IP .
It may come as a surprise to many of you, but BCI
exhibited a Gigabit TDM (time division multiplexed)
Ethernet product that allows point to multi-point
transmission of MPEG compressed video over an IP
network.
By all accounts at the show, video over IP is here
to stay and the Broadcast Industry is quickly
adopting this method of video, audio, and data
distribution as a standard. In addition, MPEG 4
compression is showing signs of replacing the current
MPEG2 standard in that market. Error correction
schemes were also prevalent at the event, with
forward error correction being the dominant method
to provide quality long distance transmissions. SMPTE
recently ratified the Pro-MPEG COP-3 (Code of
practice version 3) FEC standard. Most vendors were
showing versions of this standard.
Keep an eye on Broadata this year as we forge ahead
into the video over IP arena and expand our
solutions for transmission of high quality, video, audio
and data.

| BCI Introduces the MCP1000 Series |
 |
|
We are excited to introduce our latest model, the
MCP1000 Series. It is an economical, but high
performance, fiber optic, media converter system for
Broadcast and Multimedia audio/video/data delivery.
It converts between fiber and copper interfacing for
a wide variety of AVD signals (composite, S-Video,
RGBHV, HDI-SDI, DVI, Hi-Fi Stereo, AES, SPDIF, RS-
232/422/485, Ethernet, etc.). It is a perfect
platform to supplement today s AVD routers for as
needed fiber/copper conversion without spending a
fortune for fiber optic based AVD router platforms.
