The 237i system provides a reliable solution for transporting live DVB-ASI or MPEG-2 video streams across an unreliable IP network. The 237i implements the latest version of the Pro-MPEG Forum’s stand, Code of Practice 3 release 2 (Pro-MPEG COP#3.r2), including both Annex A and Annex B functionality, thus providing forward error correction against packet loss, reordering, and duplication.
For DVB-ASI, the 237i can transmit/receive DVB-ASI compliant MPEG-2 Transport Stream over Gigabit Ethernet at over 200Mbps combined throughput. It encapsulates and de-encapsulates MPEG-2 Transport Streams into and from IP/Ethernet packets.
For NTSC/PAL, the 237i digitizes composite video signals and stereo audio, compresses them using MPEG-2 4:2:0 and MPEG-1 Layer-II audio compressions, multiplexes the video and audio streams and produces a DVB-compliant MPEG-2 Transport Stream. It can accommodate both PAL and NTSC video formats. It encapsulates MPEG-2 Transport Streams into IP/Ethernet packets using the Real Time Protocol (RTP).
